FRANKFURT 2 February 2017
With Peer Support Programmes (PSPs) expected to eventually become mandatory in Europe, this event brought together approximately 140 stakeholders from across the industry to share and discuss existing best practices regarding PSPs. The event focussed on how airlines can create an atmosphere of trust with pilots who are in distress and may require peer support assistance. In addition, the participants acknowledged how peer support is a non-partisan issue that all stakeholders should approach together.

Psychological problems among pilots are an insidious threat to safety because of impairments to task performance. Crew licensing authorities worldwide specify the minimum medical requirements crew must meet to be able to fly, and psychologists have an increasingly important role in screening and supporting aviation personnel who work in critical roles. This event will equip Practitioner Psychologists to match an increasing demand for psychological assessment and intervention in aviation.
